Will League of Legends ever conquer its support problem?

There’s just one problem: nobody wants to play support. Unfortunately, this is League of Legends, and nobody wants to play support. League of Legends offers a multitudes of ways to engage in the game, and no one wants to play support in any of them. In order to talk about the fact that nobody wants to play support, we’re going to have to ask ourselves why no one wants to play support. Autofill is one of those experiments: will people happily play support once in awhile if it means faster queues

Starved for the sport on PC, Old Time Hockey is a bit of a letdown

We haven't had an NHL game from EA since 2008, and we haven't seen many alternatives since. However, now that I've spent a good chunk of time with it, Old Time Hockey isn't the exhilarating, arcade sports game that it initially looked like. In your hands, Old Time is stuck somewhere between NHL 94's d-pad scheme and the modern NHL games' skill stick. I'd love to see a developer create a deep, engaging fighting system for a hockey game, but this sadly is not that. Old Time Hockey isn't the game P

Wii U emulator devs show incredible Breath of the Wild progress in new video

Breath of the Wild ran, but wasn't really playable due to physics glitches that broke abilities and a framerate that sat around 15 frames per second. The video above (click here for full size) is Breath of the Wild running in the next release of Cemu, version 1.7.4, coming to Patreon subscribers on April 2 and general release on April 9. The Wii U version itself suffers from frequent slowdown, but for the emulated game to already be running at full performance in two weeks is incredible. The vid

New Mass Effect: Andromeda gameplay takes us through Liam Kosta’s loyalty mission

Mass Effect: Andromeda is nearly a week away, and with it comes the return of Loyalty missions. The gameplay demo showcases squadmate Liam Kosta's Loyalty mission. These types of missions weren't present in Mass Effect 3, but they were a critical part of the second game. That even includes us at PC Gamer, to the point where we even ranked the best Mass Effect companions, from worst to best. Mass Effect: Andromeda releases for PC on March 21.

This week’s highs and lows in PC gaming

It might not happen anytime soon, nor ever, but I'd really, really, really love to see this idea taken further. Andy Kelly: Link to the pastThis week I wrote about how the Steam Link has changed the way I play PC games , which remains the high point of my gaming week. We are steadily approaching the point where there will be more Mass Effect: Andromeda trailers than there are stars in the actual Andromeda galaxy. breaking: new mass effect andromeda trailer just goes ahead and shows 100% of the g

The designers of Dishonored, Bioshock 2 and Deus Ex swap stories about making PC’s most complex games

We put together a roundtable of familiar faces, all of whom have had a major hand in exploring or creating immersive sims. When I look at what games can do that other media can't, I instantly go right to the immersive sim. Immersive sims often go very fast, and very loud, but generally only if you trigger the right sequence of actions. Because one of the defining characteristics of the immersive sim for me is that it's about roleplaying not roll-playing. On the next page, our panel share stories

Mass Effect: Andromeda launch trailer arrives a little early

Despite being over a week away from release, the Mass Effect: Andromeda launch trailer has joined EA and Bioware's final marketing sprint. There have been a lot of trailers, but this could be the last. Also, we get a glimpse of a planetary shield I don't think we've seen before. We recently got some new info on the Mass Effect: Andromeda system requirements, and our own Tom Marks is on the ground in Boston today to play the co-op multiplayer for the first time—he'll have thoughts on that soon. M

Duelyst is getting its third expansion next week, here’s a first look at six new cards

The two tribes have been split between the factions, with Lyonar, Magmar, and Vetruvian getting new Golem synergies and Abyssian, Vanar, and Songhai getting Arcanyst synergies. So if you play an Arcanyst minion with Bond (like Nightshroud, shown below) and you don't have any other Arcanysts in play, nothing will happen. Each Faction will get one Bond minion of its own, along with access to two more Neutral Bond minions for a total of eight in the set. You can unlock the Ancient Bonds cards in pa
