See how Sonic Mania remixes classic Sonic in new trailer

I've been fairly ambivalent about Sonic Mania until now—a couple of decades' worth of bad Sonic games will do that to you—but the latest trailer really tugged at my nostalgia, illustrating how a classic Sonic 'zone' has been reworked and expanded upon for this unusual official/unofficial Sonic mashup. However, once the SEGA employee demonstrating the game reaches the second act of Green Hill Zone, the changes became more clear. Sonic Mania will run at 60fps—the narrator says the Mega Drive origi

New Friday the 13th trailer is like an ’80s-style montage of brutal murder

Friday the 13th developer Gun Media has released a new trailer for its multiplayer murder simulator, and surprise! Jason doesn't hide the fact that he's a big bully, giving those sinful camp kids swirlies and killing them in gruesome fashion. This new trailer is also the first time we get to see legendary makeup artist Tom Savini's new Jason model. It's the new Jason model created since 2009's Friday the 13th, and it's based on Jason Goes to Hell (via Bloody Disgusting). Friday the 13th: The Gam

Styx: Shards of Darkness’ launch trailer makes time for a dig at Assassin’s Creed

One game that seems destined to be lost in the extraordinary March rush is Styx: Shards of Darkness, Cyanide's sequel to its goblin-based fantasy stealth game that's releasing on March 14—so next Tuesday. The first game garnered fairly solid reviews, and sequel Shards of Darkness seems to offer more wacky, light-hearted, third-person-stealthy shenanigans, but this time with added two-player co-op. Of course, it's not a proper game release without an accompanying 'hey, this is out soon' trailer,

Elite: Dangerous PAX trailer hints at trouble ahead for the human race

The search for the mysterious alien race known as the Thargoid in Elite: Dangerous seemed to finally bear fruit back in January, when a pilot encountered a bizarre, flower-like alien ship. Going by the "Unknown" trailer released today at PAX, he was 100 percent right—and it's time to start splashing. The trailer is unfortunately brief, and to be fair to all involved it may have ended with a handshake and the friendly exchange of information and technology under the shadow of that massive alien s

Watch the hour-long Mass Effect: Andromeda livestream from PAX East

Update: The Mass Effect portion of the stream is over, but you can watch the VOD above. (If the video doesn't start at the correct time, the Andromeda stuff begins at around 2:57:10 with the launch trailer.) I've broken down some of what was discussed, namely the number of characters, in another story. From right this moment until 2 pm Eastern, when the livestream switches to Prey, you can watch some unedited Mass Effect: Andromeda gameplay on Twitch's own Twitch channel. What's more, Tom is on

Mass Effect: Andromeda launch trailer arrives a little early

Despite being over a week away from release, the Mass Effect: Andromeda launch trailer has joined EA and Bioware's final marketing sprint. There have been a lot of trailers, but this could be the last. Also, we get a glimpse of a planetary shield I don't think we've seen before. We recently got some new info on the Mass Effect: Andromeda system requirements, and our own Tom Marks is on the ground in Boston today to play the co-op multiplayer for the first time—he'll have thoughts on that soon. M
